A little bit of French frivolity comes to the Market this Sunday, as some of our traders celebrate la Fête nationale!
The Market’s Paris-inspired bakery, Agathé Pâtisserie, will be preparing French delights before your eyes with some special Bastille Day treats in store alongside their regular selection of infused croissants and baguettes. Look out for the Duck Confit Danish (roasted duck confit in a crispy croissant pastry – pictured below), Bordeaux Cannelés (custardy little cakes, caramelised on the outside and soft on the inside), Madeleines (baby sponge cakes best enjoyed dipped in coffee) and the Crème Brulée (on a caramelised danish pastry)!
The Bastille Day menu items will be available from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 July. Our tip – get there early to avoid the queues!
The team at Claypots Evening Star know a thing or two about celebrating Bastille Day, and offer the perfect venue to catch up with friends over great food and wine. On the menu this Sunday will be Soupe à L’oignon (french onion soup) and Moules Marinières (mussels in white wine), alongside their standard menu of seasonal seafood dishes. Pair with their French cocktail Jeanne Moreau or choose from their selection of French wines, beers, aperitif’s and cognacs. There will also be free live music throughout the day and into the evening!
The Little Wine Shop has an extensive selection of French champagnes, wines and beers in store this week. Pop in and visit Anna for a recommendation and a free tasting.
French trained pastry chef-turned-chocolatier, Charles Lemai, is renown for his incredible creations, and to celebrate Bastille Day he has created the Coq Gaulois (the Gallic Rooster)! Also on offer at Aytpic Chocolate is their decadent, European-style hot chocolate on tap – perfect for a Melbourne’s winter day!
