After a long, cold Winter, the arrival of Spring greenery feels like a breath of fresh air. And you don’t have to travel far to feel the benefits, whether on a busy work day or lazy weekend. Here are some ways you can enjoy the (slightly!) warmer weather and bring some colour to your day.
Can’t leave your desk for too long? Take a breather out on your balcony or in the backyard with a homemade coffee or tea. If you can’t make it into the Market to shop, Rita’s Coffee and Nuts, Padre Coffee and Tea Drop are among the traders offering home delivery of coffee and tea supplies, or use our Order & Collect service to buy beans from Clement and tea from Gewürzhaus.
A little bit of time and preparation makes the simple act of going outside into an occasion, whether you’re simply stepping into your back garden for a quick alfresco lunch or travelling a bit further afield to get some exercise. Grab a picnic rug and a lunch bag and you’re ready to go – Market Import has colourful bags made of Mexican oilcloth that are just right for carrying snacks and sandwiches.
Don’t forget to pack a hot drink in a reusable mug (various Market traders stock these, including Merchants of Change).
Spring weather is notoriously changeable, so if you’ll be outside for a while it’s probably a good idea to take wet weather gear such as a raincoat from Lost in Seasons.
If you’re feeling energetic, you might like to throw a frisbee or hit a bike trail with your family (Spin has a range of outdoor toys and wheels for all ages; call 8256 2728, email email@example.com or send an Instagram DM to @spinsouthmelbmarket to order). Or do a spot of gardening (The SuperCool has a great range of planters, and you can order plants from PJ Plants on 0488 447 708).
Of course if the weather isn’t playing ball, you might like to get stuck into the Spring cleaning. Stock up on eco-friendly equipment from Moses & Co or Merchants of Change and tackle those tasks you’ve been putting off all Winter.
Speaking of jobs you’ve been procrastinating about… it might even be time to give the dog a bath! Order some solid shampoo from The Australian Natural Soap Company or a plant-based cleanser from The Pet Grocer. (And that raincoat from Lost in Seasons might come in handy here too!)
Once all those chores are done, treat yourself with a Spring bouquet – Azalea Flowers offers delivery and pickup options.
There’s plenty more to enjoy about Spring, so drop into the Market, get in touch with traders to use our Order & Collect service or browse through this list of traders who offer Home Delivery to find out what’s new.
