Spring Racing Style

The race that stops a nation is just one month away, and whether you’re trackside watching the action or enjoying a cheeky Champagne breakfast with friends elsewhere, it’s a great excuse to dress up. Our Market traders have everything you need for the Spring Racing season, from frocks to fascinators and everything in between.

If your style strategy is to start with your hat, make Joepat Fashion Accessories your first stop. Stocking a range of head wear and accessories for all occasions, it’s the place to get expert advice on millinery to suit your look and budget.

Next door at Lost in Seasons, men can find shoes for both casual and more dressy race functions, with funky footwear options for women too (think pink suede ankle boots!).

For those who plan their outfit around their frock, there are dresses aplenty in Aisle G, starting at Lara’s for versatile looks that will get plenty of wear long past the racing season.

You can even pick up a bag and shoes while you’re there, or head across the way to Traffic for even more footwear choices.

Right next door to Traffic, Cavalli is a great option for items to complement a race outfit, with fashionable jackets, scarves and other layering choices also in store for cooler race days.

Further down the aisle, feminine and fun accessories are on offer at Sarah Urban; or if your tastes run more retro, pick up a frock from Koenji Vintage – thanks to their range of unique vintage pieces, you’re guaranteed not to bump into anyone wearing the same thing.

Elsewhere in the Market, Attiq‘s colourful range caters for women in sizes up to 26, while for those looking to buy new and are eco-aware, Merchants of Change‘s selection proves you don’t have to sacrifice style for sustainability.

Sometimes it’s the little touches that can make a look. Men can add some humour to their race outfit with horse-themed socks from the South Melbourne Sock Shop (women can pick up stockings there too), while if it’s shapewear and other foundation garments you’re after, Under Your Wear has you covered, along with those other race day essentials, fold-up ballet flats.

Finally, at the top of Aisle D, race goers will find everything they need at Zarifa’s Collection, where there is an extensive range of dresses, bags, millinery and even shoes.

When you’re finished, pop over the aisle to Full Brow to get your eyebrows looking their best! And don’t forget, there are plenty of options for race season catering at the Market too, whether it’s finger food like rice paper rolls (try Ba Ba Rolls) or a full hamper (traders offering catering include Pieno di Grazia,  Canteen, Proper & Son, and  Emerald Deli).
Just make sure you leave plenty of time to place your order so as not to miss out!
