Elassaad Jewellery (pop-up) 24 April – 19 May
Inspired by the the art of imperfection, Elassaad Jewellery is a rough, raw and unfinished take on a timeworn jewellery making technique learned by Australian designer Reema Elassaad in Istanbul’s historical Grand Bazaar. Living in Istanbul, Turkey for two years, Reema studied the art of Ancient Byzantine and Roman jewellery making from traditional artisans. Developing her skill, she adopted ancient jewellery making techniques to her own aesthetic and created the high distinguishable Elassaad Jewellery.
The only female among a group of local jewellery makers, Reema spent days on end producing her hand-made collection of rings, bracelets and necklaces high up in the rafters of the Grand Bazaar.
