Junior Chef Challenge - Tortilla Chips
Make your own Tortilla Chips
A tortilla chip is a snack food made from corn tortillas, which are cut into triangles and then baked or fried.
Ingredients:
- Corn tortillas (each tortilla will make 6 chips)
- About 3/4 to 1 cup extra virgin olive oil, peanut oil, canola oil, or vegetable oil (more or less depending on how many chips you are making)
- Kosher salt (or other coarse salt), to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- Brush whole tortillas with oil and cut into chips.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 5 minutes.
- Flip tortillas and bake for 5 more minutes.
- Cool and store in an airtight container.
You can also fry the tortilla chips in oil or bake them in an air fryer.
