2023-27 Environmental Sustainability Strategy

South Melbourne Market's vision states that South Melbourne Market is a leader in sustainability, and one of the key initiatives in our 2021-25 Strategic Plan is to develop an environmental sustainability strategy that delivers on our brand promise and helps us achieve our vision.

We are calling on our Market community to review our draft 2023-27 Environmental Sustainability Strategy and provide feedback. Our customers, traders and community will play an integral role in the delivery of this strategy, so it's important that we get it right.

The strategy has been developed in consultation with our traders, cleaning contractors, the South Melbourne Market Committee and City of Port Phillip. We have identified a range of actions to achieve in three key areas: wiping out waste, transitioning to zero carbon energy emissions and reducing our water use and impact on our waterways. 

The feedback survey has now closed. Thank you to everyone for your feedback. Our final strategy will be launched in the coming weeks.
