Autumn at the Market
We’re heading into the cooler months, which means two things: beautiful autumn foliage and a bounty of fresh seasonal produce. It's the time of year we start thinking about soups, roasted vegetables and comforting desserts.
All the fresh fruit and vegetables you could possible need are on offer at our fruit and vegetable stalls for all your autumn recipes from a Tuscan tomato and cannellini soup to a lentil cottage pie.
"Mushrooms are coming in soon. We'll have wild foraged, Victorian Slippery Jacks and Milk Caps / Pine Mushrooms in this month. Horseradish is also in season which is quite exciting as it's very rare. Potatoes are really in season from now through to winter, and we have 20 varieties of potatoes, the highlight being purple and red flesh potatoes. Maris pipers are also in and available at Georgie's Harvest. Celeriac has just come back into season, pumpkin are good (very rarely do they have a bad season here as we have amazing Victorian pumpkins) and Australian garlic is in abundance." Georgie of Georgie's Harvest.
"At the moment, apples are in season and freshly picked off the tree. Imperial mandarins are coming in and they are super sweet and very juicy. Stone fruit is winding down, but new season navel oranges have arrived." Scott from Rod's Fruit & Vegetables

Foliage
"This is a fantastic time for flowers. As the weather cools we’re seeing the first of the autumn leaves and a mix of interesting foliage. The end of season dahlias and hydrangeas are incredibly beautiful in a range of autumnal colours. Tulips have started, they’re grown locally in the Dandenong’s and come in amazing single and double varieties." Cassandra from Azalea Flowers
As we start spending less time outside, bring the outdoors inside with a stunning bouquet, terrarium or plant to brighten up your home.
