Getting to Know: Lost In Seasons

Published 1 October 2024
We caught up with Ejaz to find out what's in store at his new West Aisle location.

Lost in Seasons has been well-loved at the Market since 2017. The stall recently moved to a new location on West Aisle, less than a minute’s walk from the Market's SO:ME Space precinct where the business first started out. The new space is vivid and modern, nestled now between massage therapy and oysters, it evokes the contrary delight of a bazaar.

Ejaz still sells cult Australian fashion and footwear brands (Rollie and Bueno among them), as well as his bespoke designs of remarkable beaded jackets. Now new to his stall, is an expansive range of eau de parfums, sourced from Dubai.

The offer is characterised by a global outlook on fashion and the intention is to stock something for everyone. Transeasonality, comfort, quality, and of course, design, underpin Ejaz’ curation. Ejaz also runs a fabric supply business, and this knowledge benefits the selection and ensures that beyond the visual appeal, materials are of a high quality. The fabrics are mostly natural, and the stall sustains a reputation for versatility which is both necessary for Melbourne’s weather moods, and useful for travellers.

The new perfumes are bottled in sumptuous atomisers which denote higher prices than they are (most are below $90). They make great gifts, packaged in shimmery bold boxes, and between them, encompass worldly notes such as leather, oud, amber, cardamom, tobacco, black pepper and vanilla. Many of the perfumes combine androgynous fragrances which culminate in complex and unique scents. However, the range is also diverse enough to appeal to different olfactory preferences, and Ejaz can describe well, those that are more floral, sweet, or masculine.

New clothes arrive every few weeks and each individual perfume is until stock lasts. Ejaz says that the Lost in Seasons’ customer base is diverse and that no two days are ever the same - this seems to be evidence of his cosmopolitan point of view, that sees Arabian fragrance, practical shoes and artful embellished jackets existing naturally side-by-side.

Find Lost In Seasons in Stall 222 open every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8am.
