Şebnem Gencer Art

Originally from Türkiye, artist Şebnem Gencer now lives and works exclusively from her South Melbourne based studio in Victoria. Sebnem graduated from the Art Department of the Art and Design Faculty of Dogus
University. She then went on to work with one of Istanbul’s most prestige galleries for several years before relocating to Australia.

Her paintings are vibrantly colourful and highly textured which attracts, collectors, home decorators and designers around the world.
 
For Şebnem, painting is deeply personal. It’s a way of finding comfort in the details of those fleeting moments and impressions that shape our lives. Love and loss leave their imprints, and her art becomes a canvas to explore these feelings, translating the invisible echoes of memory into something tangible. Each stroke, texture, and colour are an expression of growth, transformation, and resilience.

Şebnem's art is a reflection of how we move through the world, leaving traces of ourselves while carrying its beauty within us. Cityscapes, within every piece, Şebnem is not just painting a view, she's holding onto a moment, a love, a loss, a memory that shaped her. Through her work, she hopes to create a space where others can also find their own memories and experiences reflected, wrapped in the same embrace that art has given her.
