Summer Produce at the Market
The first month of summer is always busy with lots of social gatherings and celebrations, so we've come up with some delicious options for all your party and weekly meal needs.
There's order ahead options for delicious platters and all our Fruit & Veg, Grocer and Meat, Poultry and Seafood stores are stacked to the brim with locally sourced, organic and sustainable products.
Pick up a Platter
Deli - Grazing platters from Emerald Deli, Pieno di Grazia, Theo's Deli or a Spanish Bodega platter from La Central Deli are made up of quality imported & locally cheese, crackers, cold meats, peppers, olives, dips and more (dietaries can be accommodated). If you want to make up your own, you'll find every sort of cheese and antipasto at all our Delis.
Seafood - If you're short on time, pick up a tray of 6 or 12 oysters, half a cooked lobster, scallops or sushi from Aptus Oyster Bar, Gem Pier Seafood or SMS Oyster Bar.
Sweets - Amazing donuts, tarts, flans, cupcakes, celebration cakes and slices can be found at Agathé Pâtisserie, Cobb Lane Bakery, Emerald Deli, Flour Patisserie, La Lapa and Pieno di Grazia.
Cook up a Storm
Finger food is always a hit at end of year events. Try these recipes for Nem Choun Hoi An (Hoi An spring rolls) and Vegetarian Empanadas, always popular with young and old.
For a main you can't go past this Caramelised Braised Pork Belly recipe or Hagen's Spiced Lamb Shoulder recipe. You can buy the organic shoulder from Hagen's Organic Butcher in the Food Hall.
Pavlova has to be the number one Australian festive dish and Market Spice House Gewürzhaus have a recipe to make it stand out on the table. Made with cardamon, pistachio and rose cream, you're sure to impress your guests or host with this version.
Cue the Barbie
From steaks, sausages, kebabs, butterfly and marinated fillets to whole fish, calamari and prawns, our Meat, Poultry and Seafood traders in the Deli Aisle offer every sort of protein perfect for barbecuing.
Vegan and vegetarian options are available at Moses & Co. including yummy larder fresh burgers in brown rice, mushroom and seaweed, roast carrot, kale and chickpea or roast pumpkin plus chickpea and veggie snags.

Indigenous weather knowledge identifies six seasons in the Nyoongar calendar for the southwest of Australia. There are two summers:
Birak—season of the young, the first summer from December-January when the rains ease up and the warm weather begins.
Bunuru—season of adolescence, a second summer in February and March. The hottest time of the year with little to no rain.
